I marvel at the technology shift in the electrical industry over the last 30 years. It has changed our business landscape. As impressive and impactful as many lighting advancements have been, few could have imagined how quickly and comprehensively the semiconductor light source (LED: Light-Emitting Diode) would revolutionize lighting. I feel very fortunate to be part of this historical transformation and to assist in navigating our company through unprecedented changes. This would not have been possible without committed and capable people who share our vision and passion. As Gary Hamel once said, “You can’t build an adaptable organization without adaptable people”!

COMPANY FOUNDER

Resource Lighting + Controls was founded in June of 2001. We’ve been representing Acuity Brands, the largest U.S. manufacturer of LED lighting and controls, since our beginning. We’ve worked to seek out top manufacturers; each offers something unique to compliment a comprehensive linecard. We can build a lighting package for any application thanks to extensive manufacturer relationships. In 2018, we moved to 916 Business Park Drive in Chesapeake, Virginia, allowing us to focus on our in-house services. The new facility provides a larger learning center and product samples warehouse and expands our employee offices and collaboration spaces. Over the past few years, we’ve emphasized our ability to serve specifiers and owners from purchase through warranties. We now offer controls commissioning and programming, pre-construction meetings to ensure smooth installations, and expanded photometric and electrical layout services.
